Mosquito Control Chesapeake
Chesapeake is the third largest city in Virginia. Chesapeake has a diverse make up of both protected farm land and forests as well as urban areas. In addition, there are many swamps in the area due to Chesapeake’s close approximation to the coast. There are many properties in the area that enjoy waterfront views. With such a wide range of ecosystems in the area, mosquito control is an important aspect of being able to enjoy outdoor. Mosquito Tek has been helping customers rid their yards of mosquitoes since 2011 and we are here to help you.
Eliminate mosquitoes where they breed
At Mosquito Tek, they not only specialize in eradicating all adult mosquitoes with a highly concentrated mosquito spraying treatment, they also focus on preventing mosquitoes from developing by treating the areas in which they breed by using larvicides to kill the mosquitoes before they can turn into adults and lay more eggs. This dual treatment keeps mosquitoes from being a problem in your home.
Conventional and Organic Mosquito Treatments
There are two treatment options available for mosquito control through Mosquito Tek. Our conventional insecticide spray, Talstar, is a full-strength insecticide and is one of the most effective options on the market. It is known for the long-lasting mosquito barrier that it provides. We use organic insecticide Essentria for our all natural treatments, which is effective at killing mosquitoes while still being safe for your plants, native wildlife and other things sensitive to insecticides.
Mosquito prevention tips
There are things that you can do to help control the mosquitoes and keep them to a minimum between spray treatments from Mosquito Tek. Here are some great mosquito control tips that will minimize mosquitoes:
Use LEDS and bug lights—Mosquitoes are actually not attracted to light, but instead to the frequencies of light. They prefer the frequencies from incandescent light bulbs because the are closest to the ultraviolet end of the spectrum. Switching to LEDs and yellow bug lights can help you stop attracting bugs.
Get rid of standing water—Mosquitoes breed in water, and they just need as little as collects in a bottle cap. Removing standing water from pots, pools or wheelbarrows will make it more difficult for mosquitoes to breed.
Keep Your lawn mowed—Short grass dries more quickly, which helps because mosquitoes, tick and fleas love the dark, moist area that a long lawn provides.
Use mosquito repellents that work –The CDC has found that DEET is a very effective mosquito repellent and is highly effective at preventing bites.
Added Bonus – Mosquito Tek also kills the fleas and ticks in your yard
Although many people contact Mosquito Tek for just mosquito control, Mosquito Tek offers flea and tick control at no additional charge as part of the service.

I could be outdoors without bug spray on any time, anywhere on my property. Before Mosquito Tek I couldn’t talk to someone on my front door for even one minute without getting bitten.
Frequently Asked Questions about our Mosquito Control Services
What happens when you come out to complete a treatment?
Each time we perform a mosquito control treatment, we complete a four-step process:
- We asses all the exterior locations off your property to determine the types of pests that need to be treated. In addition to mosquitoes, we will address infestations of stinging insects, fleas, ants, ticks and other pests you might not know about.
- We look for breeding areas for mosquitoes, this can include both standing water in containers and natural areas such as stream pools, lakes and ponds.
- We apply larvicide to permanent breeding sites and empty water from containers to give the mosquitoes fewer places to breed.
- Finally, we spray the outdoor areas of your property where mosquitoes lives. The insecticide will create a barrier that will kill mosquitoes on your property and any that may try to enter from outside your property.
How do I know I am getting the best possible service and products?
We are so confident in our treatments that we have two Satisfaction Guarantees. The first is a Product Guarantee that if you see even 1 mosquito within 3 weeks of a conventional treatment or within 2 weeks of an organic treatment, we will come out and respray for free. Our Service Guarantee states that you will receive a full refund if you are not satisfied with the service you get from Mosquito Tek.
How do I know I’m getting the best price?

We’re concerned about the environment, do you have all-natural or organic mosquito products?
Although many customers prefer the conventional treatment because it lasts up to 21 days, others prefer the organic mosquito options that we offer. It is 100% environmentally safe, is National Organic Program (NOP) compliant and lasts for up to 14 days.
How safe are your products for my pets, family and wildlife?
During the treatments, we ask that the area be clear of family members and pets, but once we are finished, you only need to wait 30 minutes for organic treatments or 1 hour for conventional treatments before you resume normal activities. The products need to have time to dry and if the humidity is high it may take a bit longer.
